Last year, the FBI hired
a legal battle to force the Cupertino companyto create a
software to unlock the iPhone 5c of the famous San killer
Bernardino.
The FBI ultimately dropped the charges because the agency
government had claimed to have succeeded in unlocking the iPhone 5c and
access its content through a mysterious third party company.
During a session where the FBI director was questioned on several
topics, Senator Dianne Feinstein revealed this weekendthe amount
paid by the FBI to crack the iPhone 5cin question.
The US government agency allegedly paid900 000 $
for a tool to unlock iPhone 5c in the case of
fusillade de San Bernardino.
We cannot exclude the possibility that the company or third party having
sold this method to the FBI, may sell it to another agency, company or
pays.
However, the FBI had stated that the method used is not compatible
than with an iPhone 5c running iOS 9, so other iPhones do not have
nothing to fear from that side.
Apple refused to create such software because it would have endangered
data of all iPhone (and iPad) users, if used by
malicious people.
After successfully accessing the contents of the offending iPhone in
the San Bernardino attack, the FBI claimed to have found no
information of real importance.
