Patent: a solar touch screen for the iPhone

Apple recently obtained a patent
particularly interesting. Even if the implementation seems complex, the idea
is, on the contrary, rather clever:integrate into the touch screen of
the iPhone uses solar cells to recharge the
battery
.

As with each patent, it must be emphasized that it is only a
avenue of research, but knowing that Apple is working in this direction is rather a
good thing:

Completely integrated into the touch screen, these cells
solar panels would be able to allow charging of the iPhone without
you might as well disrupt the display.

Thus, thanks to a finger detection system, the elements of the screen
will be able to choose to switch to capacitive mode so that the user can
Use iPhone or in energy mode to collect energy.

Thanks to a solution that is both software and hardware, a unit of
control will then be able to decide whether the collected energy should be sent for
storage to batteryor attributed directly to
how the iPhone works.

Even though it was filed in 2008, it is very unlikely that this system
is coming with the next iPhone. However, a solution of this type allowing
to gain even a few % of battery during the day would be, I am
certain, very appreciated by users.

What do you think?
