Chillingo +
Warner + DC Comics =Supermanon iPhone and iPad (on the App
Store
an iPhone version
and iPad). Meeting the editor of Cut The Rope or
Contre-Jour with the superhero in red underwear over the blue tights
was surprising on paper and we were curious to test the beast.
Especially since it has barely been released on the App Store, it has already been launched on
iTunes as “game of the week”. Wow, absolutely. The cow, Chillingo
has surpassed himself again? And above all, the curse of video games
über-rotten around Superman and valid for 30 years will it finally be
lifted? In short, is Superman a good game on iOS? We give you a
hint: the answer is the opposite of “yes”. If you are still in the
fog we display our demonstration in the following:
Hell is paved with good intentions and Superman iOS version is everything
as much. On the program: a rather successful comic book style narration and a
Angry Birds-style level system where you have to complete missions in
each. Let's add to this a rather pleasant handling of the character,
walking down the street (yes singular) of Metropolis, taking off without problem
up into space, and rotating wonderfully. Another button allows you to launch
the deadly laser coming out of Clark's eyes, which replaces a breath
frozen when putting out fires.
It seems nice like that but you become disillusioned very quickly. Besides the relative ugliness
of the game artistically referring to the less good Atari ST games from the beginning of the
90s, Superman iOS has the luxury of being very sluggish in its rhythm,
boring in less than five minutes and imprecise in its handling of shots.
It won't take three levels to start getting tired of “hustling”
(!) enemies, putting out fires, hitting cars or
missiles, or destroy some kind of balls flying in the air. We will have good
persevere, stop planes, giant robots, and other various enemies (it
must admit), the same observation constantly comes to mind: there is
so many more fun games on iPhone or iPad, so why waste your time
with this one?
- Superman is available on the App Store
a version iPhone (€0.79)and in
version iPad (2.39€).
We like:
- The character's flight maneuverability is nice.
- The concept of waves of enemies.
- Comic book narration.
We like less:
- Ultra repetitive.
- Very quickly boring (to be polite).
- Very ugly.
- Super lame music.
- Approximate handling of shots and very annoying in the end.
- No VF.
- No universal app: you have to put your hand in your wallet to
the iPad version.. - “Game of the week” according to the App Store France? It's a
joke ?
