Exomount support test: for iPhone and other smartphones, at home and in the car

Here is the presentation of this clever accessory as well as the results of
our test:

Presentation

The Exomount introduces itself
like a suction cup car mount, except instead of having like the
most of its colleagues a shell which surrounds the iPhone, this is
with plierswhich is reminiscent of those found in
DIY stores to serve as a “third hand”. Obvious advantage, it
is compatible with iPhones with a case, bumper or any
other protection!

Below this clamp, a ball joint allows rotation and orientation,
while the whole thing is supported by a suction cup.

The latter is delivered covered by a ring of glossy paper in order to
stay clean. In fact, when we peel off the paper, we realize that it
this is one ofthese plastics which seem to have properties
tights.

Utilisation

You understand, nothing very complicated, open the pliers, it's done
without problem even if we feel that the spring has good power, and put
your machine in place, release, it's held. Once the machine is stuck between
jaws, she doesn't escape! Especially since reinforcements in
soft rubber completes the hold in places where the pliers are in
contact with iPhone.

Rotation allows portrait or landscape use and tilts
easily in almost any direction. Here again, no play, the ball joint
turns when turned, but it holds very well. Tested in
auto, the vibrations did not change the orientation at all.

Finally, the suction cup is placed on the surface of your choicea
table, andvertical shelf sideor apare
breeze. A "handle" located on the back, which will be "opened" at
previously, allows by closing it toforce the air out and
stick the suction cup very effectively.

The hold turned out to be very good, on alaminate desk, none
worry, it doesn't move, on avertical laminated
(next image), ditto, on awindshield none
worry.

The outfit only showed weaknesson a dashboard
grainy plastic. It was a test carried out because this type of outfit is
shown in the usage examples, but it was unlikely that this
really works in our case. In fact, after about twenty minutes of
road, the suction cup came loose. Is this a problem? Not really, I
would never have imagined holding a suction cup on such a surface, even
a minute 😉 but the test had to be done.

The surface of the suction cup which was indicated to be in a plastic material
specific, slightly sticky to the touch has the merit ofdon't let
no trace(it was a concern to the touch) this so much on a
office only on a window, very good point for that! In addition, the suction cup
does not require any humidification. As a precaution, we can imagine that it
suitable when not in use to put the paper protection back on
provided, but washing must restore its properties.

Last remark, for those who wish to use it in the office, the
multiple tilt and rotation possibilities make it a strong support
convenient for watching a video or checking the news when it arrives,
on the other hand, it should be noted that if you have to tap on the screen, it vibrates
slightly and will therefore not be suitable for long text keystrokes by
example.

Conclusion

This is an accessorysimple,
well I thoughtand above all made in materials and with a
assembly ofgreat quality. He does what we do to him very well
application at home or in the car and has the advantage of being
universal: little chance that it will change with the
next iPhoneor other mobile than you
will take. Unless the screen is really very large (the clamp opens to
maximum of around ten cm).
