We had it
mentioned in this article last June, traces of a function of
panoramic shotswere present iniOS 5. A curious developer (@conradevhere on
twitter) has just revealed that the function iswell present and
usable in iOS 5morenot activatedpar
Call.
The principle is ultra classic and already seen in numerous applications
such as
Photosynth seen here,Here
vu is,
Panolab herebut integrated into the system it is always interesting.
The developer has indicated how to activate this mode but if it is not in the
final version... There is a reason, here are screenshots of
l’interface :
We can actually see that the interface is not really finalized or in
in any case not at the level of finish of what Apple produces in
general :
Furthermore, the tests carried out by the first to have activated the
function seem to show that the result is also not up to this
that we expect, with blurring effects and others. You can see photos
taken with this panoramic mode iOS 5here on
MacRumors.
We therefore see that Apple is interested in the subject, we can hope that such
function will appear one day on the iPhone, but it is not the current one which
will satisfy those who want to take panoramic photos with their iPhone.
So will we see a function worthy of the name in iOS 5.1 as we were able to
see the arrival (without warning) ofHDR mode in iOS 4.1
last year? Mystery !
The developer who brought this feature to light will offer it via Cydia
an app allowing you toactivate it on iPhones
jailbroken.
For information, the procedure for activating iOS 5 panoramic mode is
quite simple for those who have thehabit of accessing files
internals of their machine, since it “is enough” to pass a switch
"EnableFirebreak=Yes" to yes in the file
"/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mobileslideshow.plist". This will make
normally appear an additional "Panorama" button in the "options"
when shooting (iOS 5).
But it is better to wait quietly to have a real
version finalized and refined by Apple!
And to wait while waiting, here are some panoramic photo apps,
some free like
Photosynth, so don't deprive yourself!
