Greenberg Traurig (GT), a law firm specializing in business, has just purchased land in Arizona for one hundred and twenty-five million US dollars. The acquisition was more precisely carried out by a company managed by GT, namely Route 14 Investment Partners LLC. However, many assumefor several years nowthat this entity covers the Apple Car activities.
Obviously, Cupertino has not commented on the information. We know that the firm wants to keep a certain secret about the development of its intelligent vehicle, a complicated matter given the multiple patents publicly filed to protect the concept. Recently, one of them detailed how to use external screens to make a car capable of better communicating with other road users.
An environment already validated?
According toAZ Big Media, who spotted this juicy information thanks to a platform specializing in real estate, this location of more than twenty-two thousand square meters is not unknown to the Cupertino records. Indeed, installed in the discreet desert town of Wittman, it would have been rented in 2017 by Chrysler at Apple to run its autonomous cars. Not far away is also a test bench for Toyota teams.
The Grand Canyon State is also renowned for its resolutely open policy to AI-controlled cars since 2015. Along with California, it is a region where many cutting-edge manufacturers such as Lucid Motors, Intel, Cruise Automation (General Motors), Ford, Nissan, Volkswagen and even Waymo. The latter being Alphabet's foal for the driverless race.
See you in 2025
Despite its dozens of cars being tested in the western United States, Apple would still be far from unveiling a marketable product that complies with road safety requirements. Most analysts such as Ming-Chi Kuo estimate that the firm will not formalize anything before 2024, at least. However, several subcontractors have been mentioned here and there, a sign that a first series of production could soon begin.
All these clues having never been validated by Apple, it is still better to consider them with caution for the moment.
