While revelations continue to rain in regarding working conditions at Apple and particularly within Apple Park, the nerve center of the brand. If the presentation videosof the brand new work environment of the Apple reveal an atmosphere of calm and thoughtful work, in the middle of an ideal world, the reality seems to be much duller.
Indeed, the latest reports from the Financial Times report that the Cupertino firm is under investigation by the American Department of Labor. A former employee of the firm, Ashley Gjovik, was informed of this on December 10.
A dismissal that goes badly
The latter was fired by Apple in September for allegedly disclosing confidential information to third parties, fueling rumors around Apple products in the press, or worse yet, letting Apple's competition have access to this information.
Since then, the former engineer has spoken out on Twitter, complaining about continued harassment as well as working conditions that she describes as “dangerous” at Apple. According to her, she was fired under false pretenses by Apple which did not want to make waves internally, and faced with these increasingly heated protests, the firm decided to fire her.
A bell sound that goes wrongon the Cupertino side, the firm declaring itself as“committed to building and maintaining a positive and inclusive workplace.”The brand went on to state that it was taking“all concerns [of its employees] taken seriously”.
More and more testimonies
But Gjovik's case is far from isolated. Indeed, many professionals working or having worked for Apple have expressed their dissatisfaction with management in recent weeks. The latter must make changes, assure the employees.
Their frustration even made it possible to create a hashtag on social networks, #AppleToo, in order to show and publicize the abuse that people working at Apple can be victims of. Last September, in order to calm the tensions reigning in the company, Deirdre O'Brien, responsible, among other things, for personnel, asked the latter to communicate more with those in charge in order to escalate concerns to the top of the line. the decision chain, and so that they can be resolved as quickly as possible.
Beautiful speecheswhich were not enough to raise suspicions regarding the Apple brand. The latter is therefore indeed under the yoke of an investigation by the labor department. For the moment the latter has not communicated about this ongoing investigation, but Apple could well have news from him in the coming weeks.
