Apple leaks sleep tracking feature in Apple Watch

Last February, Bloomberg newspaper claimed that Apple was working on a sleep tracking feature for the Apple Watch. We expected this feature to arrive with the Apple Watch Series 5, but that was not the case.

Perhaps this function was not ready or there were autonomy concerns with the Apple Watch. Here is a screenshot of Apple's Alarm Clocks app on the App Store, mentioning the presence of a “Sleep app” which is not available on the watch or iOS.

The screenshot in question mentions that the user can “set a bedtime and wakeup time in the Sleep app” (Sleep app). We therefore imagine that such a function is in Apple's plans, perhaps for a future version of watchOS or the next Apple Watch in 2020.

For now, the Alarm Clocks app on the watch is quite limited, it allows you to set one to several alarm clocks, and that's about it. There is no mention in the app of any sleep app.

The MacRumors site had discovered traces of a sleep tracking function for the Apple Watch, in a beta of iOS 13, so it seems likely that Apple published this screenshot too early or by mistake.

This sleep tracking app should allow users to keep an eye on sleep habits. To use it, it should require a minimum of 30% battery, according to traces found in iOS 13. This sleep tracking app could even have a dedicated watch face.

Regardless, it's rare for Apple to make such a blunder for a feature that isn't even available in beta.
