The 9to5mac site seems
visibly very well informed about what awaits us with iOS 9 and distills
day after day its information. This is how we learn today
that Apple is preparing a big surprise for us called Proactive.
To put it simply, Proactive can dig into the contacts, the
calendar or even Passbook… to inform the user in the manner of this
what does Google Now do on Android:
Contrary to what one might think, Proactive is not a
evolution of Siri but of Spotlight. This new functionality would be
fruit of long work and the integration of several small companies
recently purchased by Apple. It is with theCue buyoutat the end
2013 when it all started.
Without realizing it, Apple has implemented a small piece of
Proactive with iOS 8 by offering, via Spotlight, direct searches on
Wikipedia. It was also an opportunity to reduce, once again, the
dependence on Google. But this year, Apple has decided to go further
loin.
To begin with, the location of Proactive raised questions for Apple. In
Indeed, it seems that the search box positioned as it is
today is a little too hidden. Apple could therefore decide to return to
rear and propose Proactive, which will replace Spotlight, to the left of
the home screen as it was before iOS 7. The question would not be
trench and certain versions of iOS 9 which circulate internally even offer
both options.
Once arrived on the Proactive screen, the user should find everything
at the top, a search bar allowing access, more or less, to the
information distilled today by Spotlight. We could thus launch
apps, search for a name, find an audio track… On this point, Apple would have
focused on improving search results and integrating
current events in the proposals.
Just below should be a brand new interface. It is by
example in this place that we could find the schedules of the flight to take
during the day, or a plan to get to the next meeting
drawn from the calendar. In this second case, the user could
also know when to leave thanks to an estimate of travel time based
on traffic.
But Proactive could go even further and learn from our
habits. This is how a user who is used to consulting his
Facebook account as soon as you get up could find every morning in Procative a
button to open your favorite app. Same thing for anyone who calls
mother every Sunday at 5 a.m., a 'call mom' button would then appear
at the right time.
Another feature, Proactive could, when it's time to break the
crust, offer a list of the best restaurants in the area with ratings and
avis.
To make the proactive experience complete, Apple would also have
reworked Plans. In addition to the integration of public transport,
the company would have worked a lot to propose new points
of interest thus making it possible to propose in Proactive what there is to see in
the surroundings. This functionality could even be coupled with reality
increased allowing the user to hold their iPhone and see the
establishments nearby. Here's what it looks like at Yelp.
The good news is that for once Apple would not have chosen to do
lone rider. Proactive would therefore be open to third-party apps. Tools
should thus be offered so that these apps can find their
place in search results, but also communicate with
Siri.
However, let's remain on our guard since even if these functionalities
do exist, if they are not sufficiently accomplished, Apple could
decide not to integrate them into iOS 9 and save them for later. What
Anyway, we should have all the answers on June 8 during the
keynote which is now officially confirmed.
