Apple has made health and well-being monitoring one of its core areas. And for a while, rumors have suggested that the firm is working on integrating certain health functions into its wireless headphones. But today, it is ahead of the Sennheiser brand in this race. Taking advantage ofCES 2024in Las Vegas, Sennheiser lifted the veil on a series of wireless headphones and earphones, including the MOMENTUM Sport.
Headphones that track your heart rate
In addition to the fact that this product has been specially designed for the practice of sport, the MOMENTUM Sport also stands out for the fact that they integrate functionalities for monitoring the user's health. Specifically, these headphones incorporate both a photoplethysmographic (PPG) heart rate sensor and a body temperature sensor. The data from these sensors can then be sent to apps or tracking devices such as the Apple Watch, the Health app, or even Garmin apps.
Another advantage is that it is possible to obtain detailed analyzes via Polar's services.“For the first time in a non-Polar product, users will be able to enjoy full access to Polar's elite biosensing and data analysis capabilities, including body temperature, providing real-time information during the “training and deeper offline analysis via the Polar Flow app ecosystem”, indicates Sennheiser.
Everything you need for sport
In addition to these features that make them unique, MOMENTUM Sport headphones also offer all the features you need for playing sports. For example, the design was made in a way to reduce noises such as footsteps, breathing, etc. Sennheiser also equips these AirPods competitors with a transparency mode, anti-wind functionality, and adaptive noise cancellation.
The headphones have an IP55 waterproof certification, while the case is IP54 certified. Sennheiser's MOMENTUM Sport arrives in April and will retail for $329 in the United States.
Waiting for AirPods?
At the moment, it is unclear when Apple will release AirPods with similar features. But in the meantime, this Sennheiser product could be a good alternative.
As mentioned above, many rumors are circulating about the features that Apple could integrate into its future AirPods. Sources indicate that the firm could integrate a temperature sensor, as well as a functionality for people with hearing problems.
