With iOS 11, Apple will
open your iPhone and iPad to NFC, a wireless communication technology
short distance, already used on other smartphones and tech devices and
allowing different uses. These are sort of labels
digital files that the iPhone will be able to read with iOS 11 and the most recent iPhones.
To learn more about NFC,see
the detailed article here. Recently, a first practical use has
been seen on the internet, it is a matter of being able to verify and identify
the authenticity of certain products and detect counterfeits:
This was developed by the security specialist company WISekey
computer science. The firm is notably behind the CapSeal solution, which allows
check, track and identify products incorporating an NFC tag
CapSeal compatible. Well thanks to Core NFC, the technology
allowing iOS apps to use NFC, CapSeal could also be
used on iPhone and iPad.
In practice, CapSeal chips are already used by certain resellers of
bottles of wine in the USA. NFC then allows you to have on the smartphone
different information about the bottle, but also its identity, its
provenance and thus its authenticity.
Continuing on, technology could even make it possible to detect if the
bottle has been opened or not, to display a different message on the
smartphone depending on the case. We can imagine this type of anti-counterfeiting NFC chip
on various other products, perfumes, luxury items, etc.
Unfortunately, we remind you, NFC can only be used by
iPhone 7, 7 Plus and newer.
