This is probably not the novelty that fans of the Fifa saga were most waiting for, but the AFC Richmond team from the Ted Lasso series will be playable in the next video game from EA Sports. Iconic license, Fifa is the most popular football simulation game series in the world. Present for more than two decades on home consoles, the license tries to reinvent itself every year.
To mark the release of FIFA 23 on September 30, the EA Sports teams have just announced that the AFC Richmond team will be playable in the game. This imaginary club originates from the series from Apple TV+ “Ted Lasso”. In this three-season fiction, the viewer follows the adventures of the team as well as the main supervisors.
Roy Kent present in the game
Within the team, the character of Roy Kent will be present in the next FIFA alongside Jamie Tartt, Dani Rojas, Sam Obisanya, and Isaac McAdoo. Very important characters in the series. The coach can be used in the “career manager” mode of the game while the team itself can arrive as a guest in Ligue 1 or the Premier League depending on the player's choices. EA Sports even announced that the AFC Richmond stadium, “Nelson Road”, would be usable in the game.

EA Sports and Apple, the beginnings of a takeover?
In recent months the world of video games has been shaken by numerous takeovers. After that of Activison by Microsoft, it is Ubisoft which recently announced big changes to its capital. Regarding EA Sports, a takeover was discussed a month ago with Amazon before the information was denied.
