When iOS 6 was released,
many people said they did not want to update
of iOS for fear of losing Google Maps and Street View.
Therefore, with thelaunch,
last week, from Google Maps, we could expect a peak in
the adoption of iOS 6 on iPhone. This is what Chikita, an advertising agency
mobile, tried to measure. Results, the adoption rate already very
pupilbefore the release of Google Maps on iPhonebarely
increase:
Chikita's results show that according to the measurements carried out,
before the release of Google Maps 72.77%devices spotted
were already using iOS 6. Friday at the end of the day, even though Google Maps
was released on Thursday, the adoption rate of iOS 6 is only0.2% higher
and now reaches 72.94%.
The difference is so slight that Chikita announces thatGoogle Maps n’a
had no impact on the adoption of iOS 6compared to a week
normal.
Several explanations can explain these results. The first
is that ultimately, few people really waited for Google
Mapsto update to iOS 6 which still brings
interesting new features.
The second could be that some well-informed people knew that
the development of Google Maps was underwayand preferred
go through the update while knowing that Google would not delay
probably not to happen. The figures seem to confirm this
since in October iOS 6 had been adopted by 61% of users.
Unless we see this peak arriving in the coming days due to
of 'late' users, we notice that ultimately, Google Maps, even if
it was eagerly awaited, did not prevent users from taking the plunge
d’iOS 6.
