Since the acquisition of Waze,Google Mapsgradually adds features and data from Waze. After speed limit alerts (only in the US for the moment), Google Maps will gain a key function from Waze, which has made the latter very popular with users.
Google Maps will deploy this week for all users a function allowing them to report accidents on the road. These reports will then appear for other users, a community and collaborative function that has made Waze so successful.
This feature has been available for several months on the Android version of Google Maps, and it is very popular and used, and now it is finally arriving for iPhone users.
When following a car route in Google Maps, with a press of a “+” button, motorists can quickly report different events.
Seven types of reports are available: accidents, slowdowns, works, lane closures, damaged vehicles, the presence of objects on the road, but also the presence of radars.
However, this latter report will probably not be available in France, due to French legislation.
This new reporting feature is rolling out this week to all users.
