Google Maps or Plans: users chose, by default

Since Apple launched its own
mapping solution, Maps, replacing Google Maps, not bad
much ink has been spilled over this new service, often criticized for the lack of
reliability of the information communicated.

However, Apple has not skimped on the means to improve Plans,
notably by purchasing HopStop (seen here)
an Embark (vu

) or even inrecruiting like us
saw it recently
in order to integrate public transport.

Even if Apple's very young solution is far from perfect, some
figures show that themajority of users adopted it thanks to
its better integration in iOS
:

We will not return to the inaccuracies of Apple's Plans which appear
almost 'inevitable', given the low age of the service (Google Maps does not
was not created in a day).

However, a study signed by ComScore shows that during the month of
September 2013,35 million iPhone users used
Plans
when only6 million preferred Google
Maps
.

This figure can be explained by the fact that many users
choose the 'ease' solution, the one most integrated into the system is
i.e. the default one, in this case Plans.

In addition, many apps relating to geolocation integrate the
Apple's solution, just like Siri, which makes it even easier
Plans usage and habits.

Of course, Plans is still very perfectible and these figures do not come from
only American users. It is therefore not necessary to draw conclusions
too hasty.

Nevertheless, it appears that Apple surely made the right choice in the long term because in
investing in your own mapping service and making it the default
in iOS whileintegrating
now in MAC OS X Mavericks
, Plans are imposed, slowly but
surely, as a solution increasingly used and gaining in
reliability.

And you ? Do you use Maps more on average than Google?
Maps ?
