iPad mini 6: a very disappointing 3D rendering with Touch ID button

The Italians from CoverPigtou.it, in collaboration with the informantDavid Kovalski, have published photos and a video of what is announced as a 3D rendering of the next iPad mini.

This new tablet would therefore take up the design of the old generation, with a slightly larger screen taking advantage of the thinning of the edges (between 9.1 and 9.2 inches diagonally, according to previous information). But while Touch ID moved to the power button on iPad Air and was replaced by Face ID on iPad Pro, it shouldalways be integrated into a Home buttonon the next iPad mini.

This would be quite disappointing, given that the Touch ID in the Home button marks an aging design, still used on iPhone SE 2020, showing a certain lack of innovation in this area at Apple. Especially since the iPad mini is not the entry-level model on the iPad side. And then, while on iPhone, Touch ID is of interest due to outdoor use, with a protective mask on the face hindering the operation of Face ID, for the iPad, face recognition would be good more useful with fixed use, at home.

Not to mention the fact that apart from a Touch ID button still there, the rest of the body should not change too much compared to the 2019 generation of iPad mini.

The changes should therefore bemainly internal, with processor update, probable photo improvements and possible integration of amodem 5G, which would make it the first 5G compatible iPad. Unless new 5G iPad Pros arrive on the market before it.The latest rumorsees a new generation of iPad Pro arriving in mid-April. Regarding the iPad mini 6, you may have to wait untilWWDC and the June 7 launch conferencebefore seeing it on the shelves.

A new iPad mini with Touch ID, anyone?
