The iPhone 14 Pro was released in September but we are already talking about their successors. Although the name is not yet known, everyone calls them “iPhone 15 Pro”. We cannot yet guess anything from their technical sheet with confidence, since as is often the case the manufacturer does not reveal anything in advance. But some experts in the habits of the Cupertino company may know more…
This is particularly the case, unsurprisingly, of the Taiwanese researcherMing-Chi Kuo. For him, the iPhone 15 Pro will thus be equipped with another type of button similar to the one which redirects to home on iPhone 7, on iPhone 8 and onThird generation iPhone SE. These are “fake” buttons, which are in no way push buttons with mechanical triggering. In fact, it's just a place to place your finger, a little curved, with haptic feedback (a vibration).
Not for all models
As Kuo points out, this change would however only be intended foriPhone 15 Probut not “classic” iPhone 15s. We therefore assume that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be affected but not the iPhone 15 Plus, if the format is renewed (iPhone 14 Plus sales would be disappointing).
Also good to know: Kuo adds that these new buttons are intended to replace existing buttons. Those ofvolume, currently installed on the edge of iPhones, and the one which allows you to turn on mobiles with a long press. Nothing about the toggle for modeDo not disturbHowever. To be clear, the appointment is set for the second half of 2023: this is the date that the next high-end iPhones should be released.
All touchscreen?
This news is reminiscent ofa concept recently published on the web, where we can see an iPhone with a truly edge-to-edge screen to the point of abandoning all physical keys. Here, it is then the touch screen which serves as an interface for adjusting the volume. Not sure that the technology is ready for mass production at Apple, however. Moreover, even the manufacturers who tackled theborderlesslike Samsung quickly defined the limits as with the Edge collection.
