Inlast July, renowned analyst and Apple specialist Ming-Chi Kuo published a report according to which several subcontractors have signed a partnership with Apple for the production of a new type of photo lenses for iPhone. These lenses would be capable of providing significant optical zoom.
A new paper supports this information. It is signed by the Taiwanese publication Digitimes. According to her, therefore, Apple would have planned, on its 2022 iPhones, to integrate a new photo lens at the back. The Californian firm could even join forces with Samsung for this.
The component in question would be a so-called “periscope” lens, which would underpin impressive optical zoom capabilities,up to x10! And all without even having an impact on the size of the sensor.
You should know that competing manufacturers already offer this type of photo technology on their smartphones, notably Huawei, with its P30 Pro smartphone. This is capable of reaching a 5x optical zoom.
Seeing Apple arrive on this same ground would not be surprising. The fact remains that we are still only the day after the release of the iPhone 12 and it is very early to bet on what the 2022 models will offer.
But when several sources agree on the same characteristic, it is difficult to deny the weight of the information.
