Smartphones become a little better at photography every year, the iPhone is no exception to the rule. Some specialists will say that the latter is a little behind the competition, particularly the Google Pixel and its performance in low light. But we must not forget that thephotography remains an art. And an art must be mastered to produce the best results. So, regardless of its photo capabilities, any current smartphone can produce magnificent prints. That’s what the results of the recent Columbia Gorge photography competition showed. This one hascrowned a photo taken with an iPhone, when many competitors were equipped with reflex cameras. The height of history,the iPhone is not even a recent model:
This photography competition takes place every year. Its 4th edition closed recently.352 participants took part. A jury of specialists awarded various prizes, including a grand prize, but also a prize rewarding the scenic aspect and another for the cultural aspect.
And this year, the grand prize went to Colleen Wright. Here is the winning photo:
The image was taken in September 2018 using aiPhone 6. We see trees in the morning mist, crossed by the light of the rising sun.
We must still salute the performance of the amateur photographer who won the competition. She manages, with her 2014 iPhone, to show that a beautiful, successful photo is not only a story of megapixels and multiple sensors, but also a question of shooting, play of light and good timing.
