Jack Dorsey is the founder of Twitter, as such he was its president for several years before shareholders thanked him in November 2021. Since then, he has not taken advantage of his fortune to have a good time, but has decided to overshadow the social network bought by Elon Musk at a high price.
With “Bluesky”, his latest application, Dorsey returns to the world of social networks through the front door. Available for several months by invitation, the application has just beenits entry on the App Store. The opportunity for a launch for the general public? Not really.
“Bluesky” still requires an invitation to access its many features. With a limited circle of users, it's difficult to really know how it works. According to the first information given by the developers themselves (on the app's App Store page), Bluesky looks a lot like Twitter.
The messages follow each other in a “thread”. Text is once again at the center of interactions, a choice assumed by Dorsey at a time when all social networks are focusing on video and content similar to that present on TikTok. With Bluesky, Jack Dorsey hopes to overwork and seduce people nostalgic for the “Twitter of the past”.
Bluesky: a simple Twitter from before?
Since the arrival of Elon Musk at the head of the application, a lot of things have changed, especially with the APIs. Third-party developers can no longer use it as they wish, which is being removed from very popular tools like chatbot overnight.
Withthe arrival of Twitter Blueand the desire assumed by Elon Musk to make the social network profitable as quickly as possible, Twitter has seen many users desert the platform for other similar solutions. In this game it is for the moment Mastodon who seems to be winning.
With Bluesky, Jack Dorsey wants to recover some of these disappointed customers and thus propel his application to the top ranks of the App Store and Play Store.
