After several years of third-party downloads for computers, WhatsApp is finally available on the Mac App Store. The service already obtains a rather excellent rating of 4.7/5, compared to 3.8/5 forTelegramor 2.4/5 for Messenger (from the same publisher). You will need a little more than 100 MB of internal storage space to install this version, numbered 23.23.78 after a first update that occurred just today.
The most picky will probably notice that despite its undeniable advantages for staying in touch with loved ones, this app also collects a lot of personal data. WhatsApp can notably access your images, your search history or even your geolocation. Of course, this is only possible if you give your consent accordingly.
For everyone, or almost
According to information shared by Meta, WhatsApp is now available within the same App Store listing for all iOS or macOS users, regardless of country. However, we noticed that the platform does not yet come first in the results, on computer. You may have to wait even longer for this.
Going through the App Store to download an app guarantees that its content will be checked by Apple's robots, looking for potential malware. But as is often the case, zero risk does not exist and recent studies have shown that viruses still manage to infect users in this way. In any case, an additional guarantee of confidence is never refused.
