The crisis also affects the personal computer sector, but apparently not Apple! This is what emerges from the latest report signedStrategy Analytics, which looks at the state of sales in the third quarter of 2022. We discover that Macs would have represented no less than14%of products sold, thus positioning itself in fourth place among the most efficient companies in this area.
But that's without taking into account the year-on-year growth figures, where Apple actually wins the prize as the most successful manufacturer. The company thus sold26% more Macsbetween 2021 and 2022, while all the competitors studied byStrategy Analyticsare here in free fall. The most significant drop being that of HP, with 32% fewer sales over this same period!
The recipe for success
Among what pushes users to lean more towards Macs than PCs running Windows, we can notably cite aideal integration with the rest of the Apple ecosystem. This makes it much easier to quickly transfer files from an iPhone to macOS than using Microsoft's operating system. Likewise, many now enjoy using their iPad as a secondary screen in order to extend their interfacethanks to the Sidecar functionality.
With this, Apple has won over professionals with an installation offer dedicated especially to businesses. Among the customers of the hardware offer, we findairlines and the Tokyo city subway. On the services side, the Business Essentials suite is there to deploy iCloud and security solutions in the blink of an eye on a complete fleet of machines, from a single, streamlined platform.
Global loss of speed
The rest of the market, overall, hasdecreased by 15%according to data fromStrategy Analytics. The other manufacturers facing this rather difficult situation here are Lenovo (-16% between the third quarter of 2021 and the third quarter of 2022), Dell (-25%) and Asus (-16%). For the rest of the manufacturers, the average is-17%.
Will resilience prevail, with the resumption of economic activities following the COVID-19 pandemic and the chip shortage? Your bets.
