For several months now, Facebook and Apple have been openly opposed on the question ofconfidentiality. Indeed, where one makes the resale of personal data its business, the second makes a point of stamping “protection of private life” in its marketing arguments. Two ambitions that are difficult to reconcile, therefore.
However, since an iOS 14 update, iPhones are capable ofblock behavior trackingset up by certain social networks. Consequently, Mark Zuckerberg's platform - seeing its limited field of action - did not hold back from criticizing the novelty implemented by Cupertino. This is not, moreover, not the only GAFAM to unequivocally denounce the policies put in place by Tim Cook's firmwithin its software.
An unofficial vendetta?
Although water has since flowed under the bridges and the relationship between the two companies remains cordial at first glance, a new article from the very seriousWall Street Journalnow accuses the CEO of Facebook of disgraceful words. He would have used the terms “inflict pain” targeting Apple, the equivalent of “hurt” to its competitor.
Furthermore, during the financial report presented to his investors, Mark Zuckerberg portrayed the Mac manufacturer as a “menace”consequential for the activity of his company. Which is understandable, given that a good part of its income actually comes from the Business Manager where advertisers target prospects corresponding todemographic and behavioral criteriavery precise.

Trial pending
The tensions between Apple and Facebook should now reach the courts, the application having begun to prepare the administrative procedures necessary for this legal battle. This promises to be all the longer as the media attention that will be given to it should be substantial, as was the case for examplewhen Tile also wanted to play its card against the American giant.
To date, however, it is difficult to guess the potential outcome of such proceedings before the Court. THEmeansmade available to each party are astronomical, while the political stakes are also major.
