So it's time to offer youour weekly iPhone apps folder
traditional. After
Grobubu's selectionlast week, it was the turn of
Floyd, which has been operating on iPhon.fr for over a year. He is
our specialistvideo gamebut curious about everything, he does not hesitate
not to talk to you about accessories, especially when the opportunity presents itself.
Today, he offers you his favorite iPhone apps of the moment.
Obviously in his selection there are games and good ones, but Floyd
is also a great connoisseur ofmovie theater. He reserves for you
some surprises in its selection. Cinema, music, Paris, games and much more
plus,it's time to give way to Floyd:
Imdb & Allociné
The iPhone and video games are not my only two passions in the world.
life. And among the others, my greatest home by far is cinema. Allocinated,
it's useful for the schedules of the many rooms I frequent in Paris
(except for the cinema library unfortunately – but which has its own app) and for
quickly take a look at the press reviews. But the pinnacle remains
IMDB, a real, ultra-complete database of data sheets
films of all ages, and personality files, all being interconnected
with exemplary clarity (a thousand miles from the incomplete mess of allociné).
Better yet: with my imdb account (free), I put a rating on all the
films that I see (between 1 and 3 per day), both new and classic, and I
creates lists listing all my DVD and Blu-Ray movies (around 3,000).
A delight for movie buffs, increasingly complete in its version
mobile…
- Imdbis available for free on the App Store
TuneIn Radio
For me, this is the best application for listening to the radio. No
only it can be programmed in the form of an alarm clock, but in addition it allows
to listen to both FM and internet radio. Well, I always wake up
with France Info or France Inter, so it won't look very far. But
this app and its many functions including recording, is very
practical. A little more intuition in your menu would not be a luxury
nevertheless.
- The free version of TuneIn Radioalready allows plenty of
things including the “alarm clock” function
- To record and do many other things, you needopt for the paid version at €0.79.
Spotify
The music streaming service that is on the rise is an essential
for me for more than two years, especially when opting for the subscription to
€9.99/month, you have the right to take all your music on your iPhone,
your iPod Touch or iPad. To do this, simply synchronize your
playlist via wi-fi at home: it's fast, efficient, and above all Spotify
constantly pushes the discovery of other artists like no other service
(Deezer, etc.) does not offer it. Not only is it practical but it is
clever. What more could you ask for…
- Spotify is available for free on the App Store.
The subscription to use this app is €9.99/month.
Gamekult & Jeuxvideo.com
Video game fans, here are the two reference sites on the subject in
France. Jeuxvideo.com is by far the most complete, since practically ALL
the games that come out benefit from a review. But if their texts are in
generally very good, those from Gamekult sometimes have a different point of view, very
well written too, and just as interesting. Debates between fanboys of one
or the other in the forums are sometimes violent. As for the best of
two: for me, they are complementary and the apps are both
free:
- Jeuxvideo.comare available on the App Store.
Draw Something
Thepocket pictionnary with his friends. The promises of this
summarized in a few words are perfectly kept. So essential.More details
in our article here.
- The free versioncontains a few hundred words,
- the paid version (0.79€)contains more than 2000 and is not
not cluttered with ads.
Le Monde.fr
Not content with being a neutral and intelligent newspaper, Le Monde offers without
doubt the most responsive and best written application of all those of
daily news.
Flashlight
Because there is no light in my cellar. And because when the
lead blows in my Parisian apartment whose circuit breaker must also be
old as Notre Dame, it's super-mega-über essential.
The Weather Channel
I don't like the official iPhone weather app. I hate her
even. And I never found Météo France's weather forecasts very
reliable. On the other hand, the forecasts of the Americans from The Weather Channel are
extremely reliable for France and the smallest of its cities. Crazy right?
The application also has excellent ergonomics and also offers the
hour by hour weather forecast over the next 10 days (where the official
stops at 5). What happiness!
RATP
Every self-respecting Parisian must have this application, which has
a lot of progress since its beginnings. Maps, timetables of the next metros
in real time on your line and above all the essential timetables of the last
metro that we are all stressed about missing on Friday or Saturday evening…
JEUX :
If I love video games and I like to lose myself for hours in
the corridors of Bioshock, on Call of Duty, in the infernal puzzles of
Catherine, or in the adventure with Uncharted or God of War, on iPhone I
prefers fast games and especially less demanding gameplay, touch screen
obliged. And since I love puzzles and brain games, these are the ones that
I prefer on iPhone.
Groove Coaster
It's my favorite at the moment, a completely psychedelic musical game,
both very affordable, rather easy and very fun in its early stages
levels, and demonic in its later stages.
Cut The Rope :
I can't get enough of this huge iPhone and iPad classic. THE
goal: cut ropes to send candy to a strange
frog with a cute face. The number of levels is dizzying, the
different worlds offering different rules and gadgets. Two years after his
exit, it's always a total foot. Especially since Chillingo offers
regularly new free levels.
Tetris :
My other current favorite. So, yes, it’s “just” Tetris, but I love it
the new skin created by Electronic Arts. The big novelty of the game, the
Galaxy mode, is full of extremely addictive demonic puzzles. Maneuverability
“1-Touch” often described as a betrayal in the forums ultimately turns out to be a
excellent idea: once tamed, you never do without it.
- Available on iPhone here for €0.79. Please note, the iPad version is
much more expensive (€5.49!)
Drop 7 :
Another puzzle game, apparently very simplistic, but which mixes the
rules of Sudoku with those of Tetris (to summarize). Difficult to
simply describe the rules (which are nevertheless very simple): we
let's try it especially since it is available in a version
free.
Sonic CD :
As the other Sonics were a little quickly adapted to iPhone (but remain
pleasant), as this one has been the subject of special care. All the more
that it is the least known episode of the saga and yet the most
amazing with its levels playable in the present, past or future…
Robot Unicorn Attack :
Running games are also a joy on iPhone. This one even more
since it plays the card of the offbeat 80's atmosphere: we direct a
unicorn in a pink and starry decor, to music by Erasure. It's from a
totally assumed bad taste and an absolute guilty pleasure.
Canabalt :
Another running game, but much more serious, Canabalt fascinates with its
apocalyptic atmosphere, its hypnotic music, and its very well-balanced challenge.
A classic, a drug.
Space Invaders Infinity Gene :
The previous game from the creator of Groove Coaster resurrected this old Space
Invaders to transcend it at all levels: the rules change at
each level, we go from 2D to 3D, and the “vector” design is a
absolute success. Here too, it is essential.
- Space Invaders Inifinity Gene may seem a bit expensive sold at
3.99€but its price on consoles exceeds 10€ and this is strictly the
same game (iPad compatible as well). There is also a trial lite version
freeici.
