“Put an AirTag in your car” the clear message from the New York police

Car thefts are becoming more and more common in the Big Apple. New York, the city that never sleeps, might need another apple to solve this theft problem. With its AirTags Apple has already managed to put an end to several theft attempts.

These small trackers are capable of keeping the position of a car for months, with remarkable precision. The New York Police Department has just officially recommended that city residents use these products in their cars to protect themselves in the event of theft.

AirTag: the solution to limit car theft?

In a message posted on the social network Twitter, the police (NYPD) explains that the “21st century requires a 21st century police force.” Wanting not to be overwhelmed by the latest technological developments, the police even seek to use them to their advantage. Thanks to an AirTag and the “Locate” application on the iPhone, it is possible to track the position of a car.

The police are then able to intervene quickly to recover the vehicle and return it to its owners. In recent months, numerous vehicle thefts have been prevented using this tracking method. AirTags have also been used for more dishonest purposes to track people, but Apple has an alert system in place to prevent people from being tracked without their consent.

Free advertising for Apple

With this message, the New York police are doing the business of the apple which is directly mentioned in the video. Law enforcement does not bother to talk about a generic GPS tracker, but an AirTag. It is also shown in the promotional video that the application used to find the car happens to be “Find” developed by Apple.

The Apple brand, which has been selling its accessories very well for more than 20 months, did not really need this free advertising.
