The
USB 3.0 Promoter Group, i.e. the organization responsible for
ratify the USB specifications and which counts among its members large
tech companies like Apple, HP, Intel and Microsoft, has just announced a
new USB 3.2 standard.
This is intended to replace the existing USB 3.1 standard and has the same
main advantage of offering a speed ofdata transfer two
times fasterwith USB-C cablesexisting.
According to the USB 3.0 Promoter Group, this new standard makes it possible to
double the bandwidthand thus to climb up to
10 Gbps or 20 Gbpsdepending on the type of connection.
The good news is that there will be no need to purchase new
cables to benefit from it, because USB 3.2 iscable friendly
existingUSB 3.0 et USB 3.1.
However, it would be necessary to waitfin 2018before the
Marketed devices are starting to integrate USB 3.2.
We should learn more about this new standard during the
USB Developer days which will take place in September.
