MacWhisperis a new utility formacOS Ventura, which relies on the program which runsChatGPTto offer delayed transcription of audio content. The tool was created by an independent developer and is 100% free, but a Pro version is also offered for better results. We know that OpenAI technology pays off at a certain level.
However, it is good to remember that even if its answers are very practical, GPT-3 is notnot infallible. It would therefore be better to reread your text twice rather than once before possibly publishing it. MacWhisper also offers an integrated editor to modify transcriptions yourself after they have been generated, in the event of an error or to add annotations. Around a hundred languages are supported, including French, English and Spanish.
To transcribe everything you want
Since MacWhisper is not a simple integration, you have nothing to worry about the compatibility of your audio files. The software presents itself as an application, which is however notnot yet available on the App Store. But this is not very surprising: we know that the process of accepting third-party platforms at Apple can be fraught with pitfalls.

To transform sound into text with MacWhisper, simply drag/drop the desired content into the software, nothing could be simpler. Several formats are supported: .mp3, .wav, .m4a and .mp4 for videos. The creator of the app also specifies that all data is stored locally, a good guarantee of security if your Mac is well protected.
Other features
In MacWhisper, we find as a bonus asearch fieldwhich covers the entire transcriptions. With this, the text can be exported as .csv (spreadsheet) or as .srt and .vtt for subtitles. And soon, the app developer explains that it will also be possible to natively translate the generated content.
Good to know: in the context of a private or professional call, recordings must remain personal and not be shared. Unless, of course, your interlocutor has agreed to this, but that's another story.
