After 80 years of good and loyal service in the electronics sector
general public, Philips announced this Tuesday that it had sold its business division
consumer-focused at Japanese Funai.
In addition to its activities related to mobile telephony, television,
this is also the whole accessories section for iPhone, iPad and iPod
touch which thus changes hands:
After trying to compete with the iPad with its own products, Philips
has quickly become a major player in the prop scene
labeled MFI (Made for iPhone/iPad/iPod).
For its part, Funai indicated that it wanted to continue the marketing of
products under its own brand. With this buyout, it is likely that there will be
in the coming weeks, good deals to be had on products
Philips.
From now on, the company should focus on its activities related to
field of health and medical equipment which represent, according to the Wall
Street Journal, more than 40% of its turnover.
