New photos of Apple Park captured with a drone

Imagined by Norman Foster, Apple Park and its260,000 square metersproudly sits as Silicon Valley's most recognizable headquarters. Opened in April 2017, the place has just celebrated its fifth anniversary and continues to attract many curious people, most of whom can only visit a dedicated store, separate from the real offices.

David Sexton, a reader of9to5Mac, took advantage of the obvious absence of a good number of employees due to the coronavirus to fly his drone above the famous address. We discover premises that are generally quite empty, but nevertheless with a few silhouettes reminding us that theteleworkis losing ground as Apple management wishes.

Minimalism and excess

This is not the first time that images of Apple Park have reached us, as recalleda recent illustrated file published in the magazine (also English-speaking)Wallpaper. Seen from the sky, however, we can see a certain XXL scale that photos taken indoors do not always allow us to grasp.

In front of the cafeteria, the number of tables and benches or wooden chairs is, for example, particularly eloquent compared to the small number of employees who seem ready to eat their meal there. For the moment, they do not have to leave their homes more than one day per week, but byMay 23you will have to be present on site at least three times more. A date repeatedly pushed back following the resurgence of the COVID-19 epidemic, which ended up drying up in recent months.

Other discoveries in June?

If you want to see Apple Park up close, there is a solution – and it's almost the only one:register for WWDC. Plannedfrom June 6 to 10, 2022, this conference reserved for media and developers attracts thousands of app creators each year but was held online only for two years, for reasons you can guess.

Next month, on the other hand, return to the fold: it is indeed theSteve Jobs Theater(see below) which will host Tim Cook's opening speech. Installed on the same land, the auditorium offers a breathtaking view of the rest of the developments also imagined by Steve Jobs and Jony Ive.
