For the Vision Pro, Apple has imagined a very special team

  • The organization of the teams in charge of Vision Pro differs from other Apple employees
  • A single department would develop the mixed reality headset
  • Usually, Apple sectors its teams according to their skills and not according to the product they are working on.

Apple's mixed reality headset would be designed by a dedicated team, organized within a single department focused solely on the device. The Vision Pro arrived during the lastWorldwide Developer Conference, and its development thus contrasts with that of other products marketed by the apple firm. Indeed, in general, each device draws on the know-how of several groups of talents organized by skill: hardware, software, marketing, etc.

This is not the first time that such a change has taken place, the Apple Watch having also been entitled to a similar hierarchy. But unlike the connected watch, the Apple Vision Pro presents itself as Cupertino's most ambitious reference since the release of the iPhone. It was therefore necessary, in particular, to keep the technical sheet secret until the last moment – which the manufacturer more or less succeeded in doing. And closed-loop development maximizes the chances of achieving this.

Other devices on the way

In all likelihood, Apple is planning other mixed reality headsets in the future. The second should be similar to a more affordable version of the Vision Pro, but we do not yet know which features of the premium model this device will be able to ignore. However, we can bet that the two 4K screens could be revised downwards, as could the amount of RAM.

If Apple builds on the value proposition of the third-generation iPhone SE and previous editions, however, the processor could remain the same as the Vision Pro with an M2 under the hood. Several configurations exist on Mac, for example with up to ten graphics card cores for eight CPU cores. A Neural Engine dedicated to artificial intelligence is also included.

Apple Park: the pinnacle of high-tech office

Employees who worked on the Apple Vision Pro are reportedly stationed in a building right next to Apple's giant ring-shaped headquarters in California. On the same ground, the address in question would be reserved for the Apple firm's most confidential projects, with also engineers working on the company's autonomous car.

Today, more than twelve thousand employees work within Apple Park, all of whose equipment is powered by energy generated via solar panels installed on the roof. Rarely, some mayto visitthe place, but the lucky ones are handpicked.
