Do you find that the microphone on your second generation AirPods Pro is rather mediocre? This is what the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, just released, seems to confirm in any case. Several comparisons already published show that the new pair knows how to capture very good quality sound, but this is of course not its only asset. Indeed, the tests necessarily reveal thatintegration with Android is much better than that offered by AirPods Pro. Conversely, the latter are better when it comes to offering unique features alongside iPhones or Macs.
The new Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are also compatible with Galaxy AI, the Korean manufacturer's suite of features powered by artificial intelligence. In particular, you can use the headset to translate conversations with a foreign interlocutor, thanks to the capabilities of the Gemini assistant, signed by Google. For comparison, Apple's Translation app is still lagging behind and AirPods are not in the spotlight withApple Intelligence. This suite will be available this fall in beta, but not in mainland France, probably because the DMA imposes too many restrictions on multi-billion dollar companies in the European Union.
What about the technical characteristics?
Now let's move on to the official technical data sheets. Here, we learn that thanks to their wireless charging case, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro can last up to thirty hours in a row. This is the same figure that is communicated by Apple about its second generation AirPods Pro. On the other hand, on a single charge, it again seems that the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are doing a little better. In fact, they can last no less than seven hours on a single charge, compared to six for the AirPods Pro 2. Of course, remember, however, that these numbers must be considered with caution. Indeed, manufacturers often do not hesitate to inflate their statistics, and those of users may therefore differ.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are also compatible with theBluetooth 5.4, even though it is a chipBluetooth 5.3which equips the second generation AirPods Pro. As a result, the range of the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro is supposed to be better, and the speed is faster, on paper at least. Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are certifiedIP57, against a labelIP54“only” for second generation AirPods Pro. This means that the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are protected against the effects of temporary immersion in water up to one meter deep, for thirty minutes. While the second generation AirPods Pro, IP54 therefore, are not designed to withstand dips in liquid. On the other hand, these earbuds can withstand water splashes from all directions.
Price and availability
Buying the second generation AirPods Pro in the Apple Store will cost you today a trifle of no less than279 euros. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are now available for249 euros. Korean wireless headphones are therefore more affordable, while they offer better Bluetooth range, better waterproofing and better battery life on a single charge.
Samsung and Apple are manufacturers offering a mandatory two-year manufacturer's warranty in France. This protects users against manufacturing defects.
