After hisrating of the best photophones of the year, Marques Brownlee attacks the voice assistants of our mobiles. The tech specialist YouTuber wanted to compare Alexa (Amazon), Google Assistant, Siri and Bixby (Samsung). To do this, the different devices tested each had to respond to the same request, with a certain number of requests in total. As is often the case, it is ultimately the program ofMountain View wins hands down, in particular knowing how to conduct a conversation by remembering previous messages.
Siri is pretty good at doing this too, but the tool is unfortunately not as good when it comes to triggering phone features or settings. As a reminder, the app arrived with the late iPhone 4s in2011, almost five years earlier thanthe Google Assistant.
What blocks...
Among the slowing factors on the Siri side, Brownlee notes among others alimitationwhich prevents you from programming more than a single timer on the iPhone. Even though this is not the case on other Apple devices which are equipped with the same solution. Either. But the task becomes complicated when you want to trigger actions within dedicated apps, such as capturing selfies with Camera. What Google knows how to do.
When you ask the smartphone to trigger the recording of a voice memo, again Siriwrong query(opening the list of previously created memos instead). A request which also pushes Alexa aside, Amazon's voice assistant - available on the App Store - ultimately finding itself in last place in the ranking. Of course, let's remember that the MKBHD patch is designed here according to very specific criteria, which does not announce any absolute truth.
The best in sight for very soon?
Siri, for its part, comes third, after Bixby and Google. But a secret Apple project could change the situation in a short time. Indeed, it has been rumored for several months now that the apple company is preparingits own search engine. The information has not been confirmed by the latter, but this could seriously improve the results obtained by the voice assistant of iPhones and Macs.
What's more, Apple has a habit of defending theconfidentialityone of its key arguments. We can then easily imagine that those accustomed to the competition, which is financed with targeted advertising, will have no preconceived notions about switching to Cupertino.
