Google buys Sparrow the iPhone and Mac email client

We
were echoing the release of the mail clientSparrow on
iPhone
after it achieved tremendous success on Mac. A
version
for iPad was even in preparation
. But the French team behind this
true success story has just announced that it has been acquired by…
Google.

It's by email anda statement about their
site
that Sparrow indicates that Google bought the company for an amount
not revealed. The team of 5 people should be relocated from Paris to
Mountain View California campus where Google is established.

But what will become of Sparrow Mac and iPhone?

Depending on the message, regarding products, if critical updates
applications will be ensured on the other hand and it is a shame, it is
announcementthat there will be no more new features offered on the
existing applications
.

So we can say goodbyeto the version
iPad
and a possible push notification on iOS probably.

The Sparrow team will continue to work on email solutions
to improve GMail, we can then imagine a local Gmail client for Mac or
same PC and maybe improvements on the mobile client?

It's a shame to see that Apple is losing a team of developers there.
talented… for the benefit of the competition. But we can only congratulate Google
for having been able to be responsive and probably well inspired in this takeover.
