In the top of the best
role-playing games from the history of video games, the series ofBaldur’s
Gateis very often mentioned. It is therefore not surprising that
the editorBeamdogported both opuses to iOS,
Baldur’s Gate
available here on the App StoreetBaldur’s Gate 2 Enhanced
Edition
available here on the App Store.
And a few days before spring, the studio has just released the version
mobile ofBaldur’s Gate : Siege of Dragonspear, released
in 2016 on PC.
It's a new game based on thesame universe as both
mentioned above, with the graphics of the time. But is it
of a successful port of a title appreciated by many fans of the genre? Here is
our review and what we think of Baldur's Gate: Siege of
Dragonspear :
For those who do not know the famous Baldur's Gate series, it is
role-playing games where the player leads a team of characters with the
objective of finishing the main quest with a very worked scenario, based on the
“Dungeons & Dragons” license.
In terms of the story line, this game is locatedafter the end of the
first Baldur's Gate gameand leads to the game Baldur's Gate 2 Enhanced
Edition. Players unfamiliar with the series therefore risk being a
lost, he isrecommended to have played the first game, even
if it is entirely possible to play this episode without owning the game
original.
Besides for players who have completed the first game on their machine
canimport their charactersin this news
adventure, all the more reason to play Baldur's Gate first, before
to continue on this one.
In terms of controls and graphics, the game is almost identical
to other games in the series withretro graphicswho are going
please connoisseurs and fans of the series, but which may put off
new players, especially those who are not fans of the genre.
The graphics engine has been improved to allow managing and displaying
a greater number of units on the screen, which gives rise to
battles with many enemies, fortunately it is possible to
zoom into the action with two fingers.
One of the main differences of Siege of Dragonspear compared to
other games in the series concern the linearity of the storyline, which does not allow
to explore the environment freely and to go back in time
previous zones, as was the case in other games. As a result, the
maps of each zone are smaller, but they are also larger
pretty and more detailed.
The game interface may seem confusing and may put off new players.
players, but fans of the series will immediately find their
brands, because it remains the same across all games.
The soundtrack isMagnificentand sticks perfectly to
the action and the different scenes of the game, moreover the dialogues are dubbed,
but unfortunatelyonly in English. Besides there is
quite a few dialogues in this game, you have to master the language of Shakespeare
to appreciate all the riches of the scenario.
Please note that we recommend playing this titleon an iPad,
because the text is a little too small to read on an iPhone screen.
We can also mentionseveral levels of
difficultywhich are 7 in number, with a very easy first level
where it is impossible to die, and an extremely difficult and reserved last
to players who know the game and the enemies by heart.
In addition to amode solo, Siege of Dragonspear propose un
multiplayer modeallowing you to embark on an adventure
several by inviting teammates via Game Center.
In the end, an excellent game with a lifespan ofmore than 30
hours, who isa must for lovers of
series, because it follows the success recipe of other games. Furthermore, he
makes the storyline connection between the first two games. On the other hand, Siege
of Dragonspear risque deput off new playersit is
not knowing this series due to its somewhat retro graphics and its interface
unclear to the uninitiated. We only regret the absence of language
French for players who do not speak English.
The game is available oniPhone et iPadand does not include
no in-app purchases.
Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear is available here on the App
Storeat the price of 10.99 euros
