A new standard of Sim chosen: always smaller!

THE
manufacturers such as Apple, Motorola, RIM (Blackberry) or Nokia wanted
all impose a new mini sim card standard. ETSI (European Institute
telecommunications standards / European Telecommunications Standards
Institute) has just decided with a Sim mini model which should satisfy
everyone :

in our mobiles was an important issue, particularly for Apple which was pushing
for a reduction in size to save space in its future
mobile. But on the other hand, some manufacturers feared that Apple, holder of
patents on the subject do not block them. Apple then indicated that these patents
would be offered to all users.

The decision has been made: the new SIM card turns out to be 40% smaller than
the current micro-SIM. Don't panic: she will be able to perfectly
work with current phones, using a small adapter.

Its dimensions: 12.3mm x 8.8mm. Its thickness remains at 0.67mm.

This new standard should appear on phones in the coming years.
