For a new mobile network to be implemented in the territory, it takes time. A lot. While the frequency band allocation process has begunseveral months ago now, a first step towards the definition of the first eligible actors is finally validated by theARCEP. The organization has just finished qualifying the first operators for the next stage.
Obviously, the four favorites were selected: Orange, Bouygues Telecom, Free and SFR are thus the first to see the end of the tunnel appear. These companies will be able to bid to obtain 11 blocks of 10 MHz displayed, in the band3.4 and 3.8 GHz.
Antennas soon to be deployed?
Each of the operators has also already acquired a 50 MHz block to350 million euros, to which is added a list of commitments to be kept:
- facilitate multi-operator coverage
- improve access to 5Ginside buildingsprofessionals
- offer reasonable and efficient packages for communities, businesses and administrations
- the creation of fixed offers (theindividualswon't really need it)
- more transparency on outages and the deployment schedule (health does not seem to be on the agenda, since5G is not dangerous)
- respect for competitive regulations, with the reception ofMVNO
Note also that operations have been postponed due to the COVID-19 epidemic, which could delay the arrival of the program in our homes. It is likely that 2021 is the safest date if you plan to equip yourself, without counting on potential additional delays.
