Originally, these sales were to be held last April, but the current health context has caused serious delays.
It is therefore finally inseptemberthat Internet access providers will share the network, while the final attributions of ARCEP (regulatory authority of the telecoms market in France) would only be validated the following month. As for the first commercial offers, they could emerge in December.
What prices?
It is impossible at the moment to know the amount that customers will have to pay to be equipped with 5G, but it is very likely that the amount will be higher overall than with previous standards. Indeed, compatible smartphones,like the next onesiPhone, will still be mostly high-end devices by then.
Furthermore, with a speed that can easily exceed Gb/s on certain models, ISPs should take advantage of this to charge their subscriptions more expensive than before, at least during launch. Butof thepromotionslimited timecould change the situation, especially at SFR, Bouygues and Orange.
