Apple Pay is growing at a fairly steady pace and Tim Cook himself was keen to emphasize this. While the Cupertino company has just presented its results for the third quarter of 2019 today, the CEO is proud to announce that Apple Pay transactions are doubling from year to year, surpassing PayPal in the process.
Earlier in the year, Tim Cook had already pointed out thatApple Pay was growing faster than PayPal. This time, the Apple CEO continued this comparison, but with new data. It states that there were 3 billion Apple Pay transactions during the third quarter of 2019, which means an increase 4 times faster than PayPal.
In total, Apple's third quarter of 2019 represented a“all-time record revenue for payment services”.Here is Tim Cook's actual intervention on this subject:“We have seen all-time record revenues from payment services. Apple Pay revenue and transactions more than doubled year-over-year, with more than 3 billion transactions in the September quarter, surpassing PayPal's transaction count and growing 4x faster. Apple Pay is now available in 49 markets worldwide, with more than 6,000 issuers on the platform.
We believe Apple Pay offers the best possible mobile payment experience and the safest and most secure solution on the market. We are happy that thousands of banks from around the world are participating.”
