During his last conference,
Google demonstrated its Project Glass glasses, glasses
using augmented reality capable of displaying information to
the user, a project already well advanced which could be available for the
general public from 2013/2014.
Even if it is still complicated to imagine what this could actually be used for.
type of product,it seems that Google is not alone in working on
glasses. In any case, this is what seems to indicateand
Apple patent filed in 2006:
In this patent, Apple describeshow the images could be
projected on small screens contained in the glassesthus creating
an enriched environment for the user. On these two screens,
information could even be displayedin 3D for a more immersive experience
immersive.
In this patent, Apple imagines that this device could be used in
augmented reality and even gives some examples
of uselike surgery, the police, the army...but also
for engineers who could visualize CAD drawings in 3D.
Other applications are also considered such as reducing the harm
transport. Finally, Apple would not be Apple if connecting these
glasses with the iPhone was not considered (knowing that when the request for
patent was carried out, the iPhone was not yet announced!).
Of course, this is only a patent grant and there is no indication that
these frames could arrive on our noses one day. However, this one seems
broader than those of Google on the subject according to the analyzes here… In
hoping that this will not be the subject of a new pass of arms in front of the
courts between the two giants…
Here is a video presentation of the Google project:
