While the
dock port is a constant on the iPhone which gave birth to
plethora of accessories of all kinds, the rumor seems to mean
that Apple could change all that and offer a new port
miniatureallowing you to save a little space inside
l’iPhone.
A patent discovered by appleinsider gives us a clue
answer :
Apple is always looking for space inside its devices
because the components are cramped andyou often have to compete
ingenuity to find solutions.
This is how the internal antenna ended up outside at the exit
of the iPhone 4, which caused a lot of noise causing the famous
“antenna-gate”.
It is true that with iCloud, AirPlay, wireless synchronization or even
OTA updates, the cable almost only has the function of
recharge.However,changing the connector would mean
make many accessories obsoleteand users risk
not to be very happy.
No more information at the moment, but we will be sure to talk about it again
if the rumor is confirmed.
However, a patent filed by Apple could give us a clue on the
reflections underway in the Cupertino teams. And it's on the Mac side
Book and the MagSafe connector that you have to see. Indeed, and according to a
patent discovered by Appleinsider, the Apple firm would consider bringing
on our iDevices a magnetic connector for the Dock port but also for the
jack socket, further protecting the devices from dust and
humidity.
On the cable itself the magnetic pins could then be
programmable. This way the magnets could behave differently
depending on what they detect on the other side of the connection. They
could for example adapt depending on the device they are on
connected allow special connectivity and a universal cable. Another one
hypothesis is to consider automatic removal of the cable if it detects a
overheated. In short, a kind of intelligent couple.
Please note, this is only a patent, that is to say a food for thought
and nothing more.
What would you think of these changes?
