Gboard keyboard updated to send “haptic” feedback on iPhone: how to activate it

Since the iPhone 6s, Apple has replaced the vibration-producing motor with a haptic motor. This allows you to simulate presses and send feedback to the finger, for example, each time the user uses 3D Touch.

There are not a lot of applications that intelligently exploit this haptic engine. But Google has just updated its third-party keyboard for iOS,Gboard, available here in the App Store, with a new function thatsimulates a real physical keyboard.

This helps with the audible feedback to ensure that the key in question has been pressed and therefore avoid sending an incomprehensible message or one with spelling mistakes. This also offers an alternative to audible feedback which is not necessarily desirable in public.

To activate this haptic feedback, you must first authorize the use of the Gboard keyboard, by going toSettings>General>Keyboard>Gboard, then checking “Allow full access“.

Ensuite,in the Gboard app, you have to go to the “keyboard settings“. Then at the bottom of the list of options, you must check the line “Enable haptic feedback on each key“.

From now on, each time you press a key on the Gboard keyboard, the device will send haptic feedback which will simulate pressing on a real physical keyboard.

Note that the Gboard keyboard is very complete. It brings together several useful features, such as GIF search, gesture typing, or even integrated Google search without leaving the keyboard.

Do you use this third-party keyboard?
