A
the announcement of the iPhone 4S and the tremendous potential of Siri, many
who were upset by the incompatibility of the personal assistant with the others
iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. Especially since it quickly became apparent that the
data processing is doneremotely on servers
from Apple and not in the phone with a dedicated chip.
The companyApplidiummanaged tobypass the
securityof Siri to make itcompatible with all devices
Appleand all applications.
On one condition.
Siri hadalready been wornon iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G but Applidium goes further
far by offering a resource kit allowing you to useSiri in
third-party applications, under iOS or even Mac… or Android.
To develop its system Applidium studiedcarefully
performing voice recognitionvia Siri. L’iPhone 4S
sends raw audio data, compressed with the codec
Speex VoIP audio, and the unique UDID identifier of the iPhone 4S. What follows
more or less data exchange between the server and the iPhone depending on whether the
recognition works correctly or not.
So,by infiltrating the flow of communicationtowards
servers with a correct UDID we can get a response from
servers.
There is, however, a limit to cracking Siri: the need for an identifier
UDID d’iPhone 4Sto connect to the server. Unless
to use that of your iPhone 4S on your other devices you will have to
obtain one elsewhere and Apple will therefore be able to identify traffic that is too high
linked to certain UDIDs and possibly block them if ever there is a
doubt.
It remains to be seen if we will see applications appear (probably for
machines with jailbreak) before Apple plugs the flaw.
