Improve your photos in a few words with Meta AI on WhatsApp

Since April 2024, Meta AI, which was introduced the previous fall, has been deployed on various platforms in the Meta ecosystem, including Instagram, Facebook, Messenger and WhatsApp. The latter, which has just been granted the possibility ofselect sending photos in HD by default,is about to welcome a brand new feature.

Necessarily, the latter will benefit from the group's advances in artificial intelligence since it will allowMeta's AI edits your photos with simple text instructions. It will be added tothe new image generation featureImagine Me, still under development.

Photo Editing for Dummies

This functionality seems to be heavily inspired by what is done in the Adobe suite, although a little less complete according to the information currently available. So, you just need to formulate simple queries like “enhance the brightness» or «apply a retro filter»to instantly see the changes appear on the image.

A new, specially dedicated button will be integratedin the WhatsApp interface to submit the desired photos to Meta AI so that it can analyze and edit them. A particularly reassuring aspect of this feature is that users retain absolute control over their snaps, being able to delete them from the application at any time if they wish.

If you still don't see the option on your interface, don't panic, it's normal. It's not even available for beta testers yet. Still in development, Meta has not given any specific release date.

Let us be clear, this will not transform the application in depth, that's certain, andthis feature might even seem a bit gimmicky. It might be a good idea for Meta to take a closer look at issues that the app has been lingering over for a long time. Random performance (delays in message delivery, recurring connection problems), inability to send files that are too large or even the abominable compression of photos/videos if taken directly from the application. It seems that other priorities are favored at the moment.

  • WhatsApp will welcome a new AI image editing feature.
  • This will be based on Meta AI, introduced last fall.
  • It will allow you to edit photos directly from the application using text prompts.
