That's it, the new iMac M4 is here!

Via press release, Apple has just announced its new all-in-one computer, the iMac M4. The latter is as expected equipped with anew Apple silicon M4 chip, which makes it the first Mac powered by this SoC previously reserved for the latest iPad Pro model (released at the beginning of the year). Below, let's detail the other new features of this new generation of iMac, as well as the price and release information.

What's new for the iMac version 2024?

The refreshed iMac is therefore equipped with the new Apple silicon M4 chip. The latter will allow it to take full advantage of Apple Intelligence and a significant gain in power compared to older generations of Mx processors.

Concerning the screen, count24 inches diagonalfor the panel and a Retina 4.5 K resolution (4480 x 2520 pixels). As an option, you can choose to equip it with this famous nanotextured glass.

In terms of connectivity, the iMac M4 is lightly equipped: it has 2 to 4 Thunderbolt 4 ports, depending on the version of the M4 chip you choose.

Nothing really innovative so far compared to the old version of the machine, however. To find the differences, you need to arm yourself with a magnifying glass. Here are the ones we detected:

• 7 different finishes, compared to 4 previously:blue, purple, pink, orange, yellow, green, silver (note that the keyboard and mouse that come in the box always match the color of the Mac. If you buy a pink computer, you will get a Magic Mouse and a Magic Keyboard roses)

• Bandwidth for RAM:120 Gb/s, compared to 100 on the old generation
• Front FaceTime camera:12 megapixels with support for Center Stage and Desk View, compared to 1080 p for the old iMac model
• RAM for basic configuration:16 GB, compared to 8 previously
• Processor:let's remember it anyway, with the transition from the M3 to M4 chip from the old to this new generation of iMac

For the rest, dimensions, weight, storage, nothing changes.

Now let's come to the price.

The price list for the iMac M4

The first model with the base M4 chip (8-core CPU, 8-core GPU), 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports, 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of disk spaceis priced at €1,449. To upgrade to the 10-core M4 version, the machine gaining 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, you must add250€.

The prices seem quite close to what Apple has offered so far with the iMac M3. But we will do a more detailed comparison on this subject in the coming days.

Availability of the iMac M4

The iMac M4 can already be pre-ordered online.The first deliveries are announced on November 8. It is on this same date that you will be able to discover and purchase the machine in store and from your favorite third-party reseller.
