HomePod is dead. Long live HomePod (mini)

What a surprise! Apple's HomePod is therefore currently living its last days. The Cupertino company sayswant to focus on the HomePod mini in the future. It is true that the first HomePod of the name may not have succeeded in finding its audience, or at least in selling enough for Apple to keep it on the shelves. This is a disappointment for keen-eared Apple fans.

Because if there's one area where the original HomePod excelled, it was insound quality. The HomePod did not have the size defects of the mini and could therefore have a field day in terms of audio reproduction. The speaker notably went much lower in the spectrum than its little sister while offering a much higher power and in particular more comfortable for sound in a living room, a large room in any case.

Limited frequency spectrum and measured power are indeed my two criticisms of theHomePod mini during its test. This speaker, even if it seemed successful to me, was, according to me, an entry point into the world of HomePods and made us want to turn to the HomePod of 2018. Because by tasting the mini, we wanted to taste the max.

Unfortunately, the HomePod is experiencing its last moments. Apple is selling out of stock, which means you can still get the speaker from various retailers, including Apple. But not for long.

The HomePod, however, only has3 years of existence on the market, with a fairly affordable price,329 €, especially when we compare it to the price of the AirPods Max released at the end of last year:629 €. For the price of an Apple headset, you could create a beautiful stereo station supported by two HomePod speakers.

It's difficult to fully understand this decision by Apple without additional information. The HomePod must have taken many years of research and development. The conclusions of which also benefit the HomePod mini today. Maybe the speaker doesn't make enough money? What do you think?

Still, Applewill continue support for HomePod. No worries, therefore, for the owners of what will soon be a beautiful relic.
