Apple formalizes the iPad 10: technical sheet, price and new design

It's done: Apple has just presented - via a simple press release - the tenth generation iPad, a little over a year after the release of the ninth. On the menu, an obvious makeover which now fits with the other ranges of the Apple firm which are the iPad Air, the iPad Pro and the iPad mini. Of themuch straighter edges, significantly similar to those of iPhones as well.

With this, the screen is enlarged thanks to theend of Touch ID button on the front. We thus go from 10.2 inches withthe ninth generation iPadat 10.9 inches diagonal. However, the manufacturer has removed the 3.5mm jack. Which now involves switching, for a wired listening solution, either to a jack/USB-C adapter or to a native USB-C connection. You can also consider other wireless headphones and earbuds of course, like AirPods Pro or AirPods Max.

Performances

The new iPad 10 has aA14 Bionic chip,which is apparently the same as that of the iPad Air 4 and the four iPhone 12s. Enough to guarantee you foolproof speed, although the iPad Pros remain the best in this area. To be sure, we will wait for the first benchmarks which will not be long.

In terms of autonomy, Apple announces that its tenth generation iPads will be able to hold a charge for up toten o'clockin a row, the same figure as for the iPad 9. To be verified in real conditions of course, but with its modest technical specifications the new iPad should not consume a lot in any case. And for communications, the manufacturer has provided Bluetooth 5.2 with Wi-Fi, in addition to AirDrop and AirPlay, unsurprisingly, and with 5G.

Buying a tenth generation iPad will cost you the following price, depending on the storage capacity chosen and compatibility with mobile networks:

• 789 euros for 64 GB with 5G
• 989 euros for 256 GB with 5G
