Craig Frederighi could almost have used the
famous line from the all-risk agency, "I love it when a plan unfolds
without a hitch". There was, however, a hiccup during the first demo of Face ID
on stage during the back-to-school keynote, the announcements of which we summarized
in this
article.
Indeed, on first use, the iPhone
enter a code instead of identifying it with facial recognition.
Apple has just explained that it was notnot a malfunction
but normal behaviorto protect the iPhone.
Explanations!
The demonstration models had been handled by different employees
and they did not realize that the iPhone had tried to identify
their face several times.
After several unsuccessful attempts, the iPhone
automatically by asking for a password to unlock the iPhone and
enable facial recognition again.
So this is a normal feature for device security
and not a Face ID malfunction which caused this slight discomfort on
scène.
It remains to be seen whether the accuracy of facial recognition in use
real will be there when the iPhone X is available to the tech press
and early adopters.
