Apple is investing heavily in this long-awaited health function

Clearly, Apple continues to focus heavily on health features that sometimes change the lives of users on a daily basis. The latest example is provided to us by Mark Gurman in an article published byBloomberg. Our colleague explains that the apple brand has tested a new application aimed at helping people with prediabetes manage their food consumption and change their lifestyle.

A promising development

The idea is not to launch this application directly, but to use these tools later in future health products. The participants, employees of the tech giant, monitored their blood sugar levels using devices already available on the market and then recorded their glucose levels in response to their diet.

The ambition is to show them how certain foods can impact their blood sugar levels. Mark Gurman cites the example of a user who ate pasta for lunch and then saw his blood sugar spike. The tool will then recommend a protein-based dish.

For the moment, testing of the application has been suspended, and Apple is focusing on other health tools. But the simple publication of this information was enough to cause the shares of manufacturers of devices that treat diseases associated with diabetes to fall on the stock market.

Apple has its work cut out for it

This work could be integrated into the long-term plans of the Tech giant, which aims to develop a dedicated blood sugar measurement system onApple Watch. Still according to Mark Gurman, we will still have to wait several years before deploying this tool which could change the lives of millions of people suffering from diabetes.

The Cupertino company's teams still need to“perfect the algorithms and on-board sensors”before putting such an innovation on the market. This miniaturization work is not an easy task, because it will be necessary to fit the system into a small location in the connected watch.
