Cult of Mac claims, based on one of its sources working on behalf of Apple, there is nowill not have a conference in March. The reasons are obvious. On the one hand,iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9is experiencing a significant production delay. Because of the Chinese coronavirus, suppliers have stopped their assembly lines for a long time or at least slowed down their production rate.
On the other hand, large gatherings of several hundred peopleare to be avoidedat this time when the authorities of many countries around the world are doing everything possible to slow the spread of the disease. Thus, several major events for the tech market, but not only that, have been canceled outright in recent weeks, such as the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the Geneva motor show, or the Facebook and Google conferences.
Furthermore, the state of California pushedin the sense of the cancellation of potential large upcoming gatherings in the region, including the Apple keynote. Because even if the latter is generally not massive, with several hundred or even a few thousand people present on site, unlike the E3 video game show, also possibly canceled and attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year, it would have welcomed journalists from the four corners of the world.
With a health risk, but also stocks of new products still far from ready, Apple has therefore decided to cancel its spring presentation. Perhaps the latter will be postponed, however, although at this stage it is difficult to bet on this possibility. We can also doubt the success of the next WWDC conference in June. Everything will depend on how the situation develops from now on.
