The Apple Pencil 3 will soon be entitled to its vibrator, it seems

Haptic feedback could appear on the third generation Apple Pencil. This is what the journalist revealsBloombergMark Gurman in his usual weekly newsletter. Our source of the day doesn't say much more, but that's not a problem sincethe almost complete technical sheet of the new stylus has already leaked. We therefore assume, for example, that a new finger sliding gesture will be supported by the body of the pencil. However, we do not know exactly what action could be triggered in this way.

The third generation Apple Pencil could be announced by its manufacturer during thekeynote on May 7. During the conference in question, we could also discover the iPad Pro OLED with M4 chip. It is also during this event that two iPad Airs will probably be presented; one with a 10.9-inch panel and the other with 12.9 inches on the clock. Which tablets will the Apple Pencil 3 be compatible with?

The third generation Apple Pencil will undoubtedly becompatible with the new iPad Pro and iPad Airthat we have just mentioned. However, it is not certain that previous generations of these tablets are also entitled to it, because Apple does not hesitate to block interactions between them and its most recent accessories. However, we assume that the new stylus will be equipped with Bluetooth 5.3, because the next version is not yet correctly installed by manufacturers – in fact even Apple has not yet adopted it. However, it turns out that it is precisely this version of the wireless telecommunications standard that already powers the 11 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro with M2 chip, released in 2022. Stroke of luck.

Coming back to the potential new features of this Apple Pencil 3, be aware that rumors in the corridors suggest that the stylus could be compatible with the Locate network. In other words, via the eponymous app, we couldidentify the geolocation of the device once lost. The AirTags already work thanks to this mesh, which uses the Bluetooth mentioned previously, from the associated chips also present on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

History does not tell us if Apple also plans to integrate a small speaker on its stylus, but it is unlikely. Some of its devices take advantage of this in order to be able to ring them to get their hands on them more easily, for example when an AirPods Pro 2 wireless charging case is stuck between the cushions of a couch.

Price and design

The price of the Apple Pencil 3 is not known at the moment, but could easily reach149 euros or more, this price being that of the second generation available today in the Apple Store. We have also not noticed any major delivery delays for this model, a sign that it may still remain in stores after the release of its successor. This is not uncommon in Cupertino, as demonstrated for example by the iPhone 13 or the iPad 9 at the moment.

The third generation Apple Pencil should feature new featuresinterchangeable leads, connected via a magnetic system which is reminiscent of the value proposition of MagSafe on iPhone 15 Pro Max and on Mac. Finally, note that the stylus will perhaps be released in two colors: black or white. Only the color of peace being proposed today.
